About Open and Distribute

Open and Distribute is the USPS method of expediting the shipments of mail to go to mail processing facilities. For more information about Open and Distribute, see the usps.com website or your USPS representative.

When you select the Open and Distribute option:

You must print the Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice (SCAN) form. See Create a SCAN Form.
You can select Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express as the mail class.
You cannot select additional services, such as Certified Mail, Registered Mail, COD, or Insurance.
You cannot use the Print as Reply Postage option.
You must use the Open and Distribute Label.lyt layout, which is a 4 × 6 inch label layout.
You must indicate the mail contents by doing one of the following:
- Double-click Mail Class Enclosed to display the Rubber Stamp dialog box in which you enter the mail contents.
- Click the Postage Options button and enter the mail contents.
